LEARNING TREE LEAFLET

April 19, 2009

Dear Learning Tree Members,

Dear Learning Tree Members,

Thanks to everyone who has been a part of putting together next year's schedule for co-op.  I think it is a great group of classes.  Each planning team put a lot of effort into putting together a well-rounded selection for their grade level.  So thank you again for taking the time and care to get this done.

Of course, the classes can only be as good as the people who are teaching them.  So, thanks also to all the parents who put so much time and talent into making their class at the Learning Tree a great experience.  We are a co-op and our strength lies in the talents of our parents and their willingness to share this with the group.  We do need some money to operate, but more than money we need the resource of the talents and abilities of our members.  So thanks to everyone who gives so generously toward the goal of Learning Tree's success.

I am so grateful for the many years of learning and growing that Learning Tree has provided for me and my family.  I am very excited about the position the co-op is in right now.  There are so many great families involved and we just seem to get stronger with time. I look forward to the future of Learning Tree and can't wait to see what it holds for all of us.

Here's looking at you kid.

My personal experience, when I typed in learningtreeonline.org it went to the new schedule. When I typed in www.learningtreeonline.org it took me to the old on).   So try a couple different paths to get to the web site and see which on gets you to the new class description.

Homeschool After Prom

On Monday, the LT student council visited the Middletown YMCA. It is a large facility with plenty of activities for everyone. All teens will have the opportunity to entertain themselves or participate in planned activities. We ended up with a list of ten game ideas on the poster board at co-op. We hope to include most of the ideas. LT students have also volunteered to bring their game systems. If anyone has ideas, we would like to include an appropriate movie.

Snacks and drinks will be provided. We will also have a smoothie bar. Donuts-to-go will be available at 6:00 A.M.

If you plan on sleeping, you will need to provide your own sleeping bag and pillow. Beware! The noise will probably not allow for sweet dreams. So, you might want to be prepared to stay up all night.

Sign-up sheets will be by the mailboxes on Monday. You need to give registration form and payment to Mrs. Junk.

This is a lock-in. If, you leave, you will not be allowed back in the building and parents will be notified.

The student council believes we have a great group of high school students at Learning Tree. We feel that we don't need a long list of rules. We ask everyone to RESPECT yourself, others and things. This rule will allow us to have an awesome after prom.

Thanks,

Learning Tree Student Council

Girls Soccer Coming to Landmark!

Dear Home School Student,

My name is Meg Fite and I am recruiting players for the Landmark Eagles Girls' Soccer team for fall 2009. I will be head coach for the Lady Eagles.

For those of you who do not know me, my husband is founder/director of On Goal Soccer Ministries (www.ongoal.org) and I have been very involved in soccer in a variety of ways throughout my life. I played four years and was team captain in high school, and once held the record for most goals. Though my college did not have a women's team at the time, I continued to play when my husband and I were foreign missionaries in Bolton, England. A fellow missionary and I formed the women's team, which played in England's North West Regional Women's League. It was a blessing to be voted MVP two years in a row by my teammates.

I am very excited about forming a competitive girls' soccer team for the Landmark Eagles and hope you will consider joining us.

Let's worship,

Meg Fite

Landmark Eagles Girls' Soccer

Information for prospective players for 2009 fall season
Season: Fall 2009
Age: 8-12 grade
Location: In general, practices and home games will be at Landmark.
Cost: Landmark Sports Ministry charges $350.00 per player. Scholarships are available.

Practice Times: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30-7:00pm and some Saturdays from 10-noon (same time as the boys' practices)

Competition: We will play a variety of teams, including other home school teams, Christian high school teams, and public high school JV and varsity teams.

Uniforms: Players receive a uniform and warm-ups, which must be returned at the end of the season. Girls can keep their socks and bags they receive.

Parent Volunteers: Our team will need your help to make the season run smoothly. We will need people to head up various jobs such as admissions table, concession stand, and special activities. I will encourage parents to volunteer in the areas that they find they will enjoy so as to not feel burdened.

Camps: There are two camps I would like all the girls to attend if at all possible: On Goal Residential Camp and Landmark Eagles Camp. We will look into scholarships and effective fundraisers that we can do as a team if cost is an issue. Players are free to choose to go to other camps or participate in other opportunities.

Tournaments: We plan on playing in 3 tournaments during the season including the National Home School Soccer Tournament.

What will the team be like? Our girls’ soccer team will be competitive. It will challenge players physically and they will be challenged to improve whatever soccer abilities they already have. My heart for the team is that, most importantly, it will encourage each individual spiritually. We will work together as a team at all times and be encouraged to think of others above ourselves. This is the way that we will do great things for God. 1 Timothy 4:8?For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

God bless,

Meg Fite, Head Coach
